Taiwan¡¦s Ministry of Education has implemented an ¡§Enhancement of the quality of the nurturing of teachers¡¨ project to augment the practical training efficacy of teachers. Among the measures adopted by the Ministry are the setting up of awards, including the ¡§Paragon of Teacher Education Award, ¡§ ¡§Paragon of Advising Professors in Practical Training Award¡¨, ¡§Excellence in Practical Training Counseling Award¡¨, and ¡§Model Student/teacher in Practical Training Award.¡¨

Center for Teacher Education Professors Fwu Bih-Jen and Wang Hsiou-Huai entered the award contest on behalf of NTU. Out of a field of 40 contestants who submitted treatises, only 10 were selected, and both of those submitted by NTU¡¦s candidates were among the chosen ones. They are, respectively, Professor Fwu Bih-Jen ¡§Center of Teacher Education¡¦s Plan to Enhance the quality of College Teaching¡¨ under the category of ¡§Administrative operation and leadership¡¨ and Professor Wang Hsiou-Huai ¡§ Blending Counseling Concepts into Subject Teaching and Class Groups: A Sharing of Design Concepts of the Teacher¡¦s Education Course in ¡§Counseling Principles and Practices¡¨ under the category of ¡§Teaching Design and Activities¡¨.
