On January 5th, 2018, Prof. Chung-Ming Kuan (管中閔)—NTU Chair Professor of Finance and an Academician of Academia Sinica—was elected the next president of National Taiwan University (NTU).
Since the Presidential Search Committee began a public search for a new president for NTU on August 1st, 2017, it has received nine nominations in total, in which eight were approved after qualification review. In the following November and December, all the eight presidential candidates were invited to convey their visions for NTU’s future development in public.
At the University Affairs Meeting convened on December 23, five out of the eight candidates were officially recommended through voting by the University Affairs Committee members. On January 5th, 2018, the Presidential Search Committee elected Prof. Chung-Ming Kuan as NTU’s next president.
