Upon invitation, NTU’s President Dr. Si-chen Li attended Beijing Forum with key members of his administration, and established a solid foundation for cross-strait academic cooperation
For the purposes of promoting a balanced global deployment, and improving NTU’s competitiveness in the international arena, President Li, accompanied by Dean of the College of Sciences Dr. Lo Ching-hua, Dean of College of Social Sciences Dr. Zhao Yung-mao, Dean of College of Engineering Dr. Gerh Huang-zang, Dean of College of Management Sciences Dr. Hung Mao-wei, Dean of College of Law Dr. Tsai Ming-cheng, and Director of Center for International Exchange Mr. Shen-dong, paid a courtesy visit to four prestigious universities in Beijing while he was attending the BeijingForum. These four universities are: Beijing University, Tsing-hua University, the People’s University of China, and China University of Political Science and Law. President Li signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Beijing University and Tsing-hua University for academic exchange and cooperation. During the visit, President Li and his entourage was accorded with great enthusiasm and hospitality. Both parties got to know each other better, and a solid foundation for future projects of cooperation was laid.
Aside from achieving great results with respect to future cooperation, President Li and his entourage were greatly impressed with what they saw in the key universities in Beijing, which pertain to campus planning, software and hardware facilities, students’ expectation of their teachers, and students diligent attitudes towards learning.
They were most impressed when they saw students in these four universities studying assiduously in cold winter weather all around campus. President Li urges students of NTU to make use of the superb learning environments at Taiwan’s top educational institution, with a view toward scaling new heights and competing effectively against the best universities in China and in the world.
