Of these awards, the category of humanities and social sciences can have up to 2 winners, whereas the other categories can have 3 winners at the most. The term for the National Chair Professor Award is three years, during which the universities are required to provide the winners with the necessary resources for their research, and the Ministry of Education gives them a subsidy of N.T. 1 million dollars every year (N.T. 500,000 as personal reward for the winner and N.T. 500,000 as research funding). The winners of the Academic Award, on the other hand, receive N.T. 600,000 in cash prize and an honorary certificate.
