NTU Ranked 68th in QS World University Rankings 2022.

In the QS World University Rankings 2022 recently released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), NTU is ranked 68th, one place down from the previous year, and is still the only university in Taiwan that made it to the top 100 list of the rankings.

With similar methodology as last year, the rankings were compiled by QS based on 130,000 responses to Academic Survey and 75,000 responses to QS Employer Survey. Besides, 1,673 institutions entered the final evaluation this year. At last, the rankings of 1,300 institutions were revealed and a total of 25 universities in Taiwan are entrants to this year's top 1,000. There are 145 universities that are new to the evaluation and NTU is ranked among top 5.2%, the best record so far.

The six metrics used by QS include: Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Citations per faculty (20%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), International Faculty Ratio (5%), and International Student Ratio (5%). Compared to the performance last year, NTU has scored slightly higher in Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, and International Student Ratio. As for Citations per faculty, the score took a giant leap among all metrics to 3.9, yet the rank still went down, demonstrating how competitive it was in this scope. For International Faculty Ratio, the international faculty ratio at NTU has increased by 4% from last year even though the rank and the score both went down.

The results this year serve as a strong reminder that NTU has to make quick and major advancements in various aspects for the school to stay ahead in the global university rankings. NTU will continue its concerted efforts to enhance its teaching quality, undertake interdisciplinary research, foster R&D capabilities as well as innovation, and promote collaboration with international research institutions to increase its visibility and influence among global academia.
