Today, National Taiwan University (NTU) hosted the 2025 Lunar New Year Gathering, where many faculty members, staff, and retirees attended to exchange greetings and well wishes.
This year’s event featured comedic crosstalk by performers Yi-Hao Huang and Mickey Sung, the latter of which is a current NTU Drama student and host on Hakka TV. Their humorous performance blended current events and NTU’s history, incorporating many university-specific jokes that drew waves of applause and laughter from the audience.
In his New Year aspirations, NTU President Chen Wen-Chang encouraged faculty and staff, highlighting the university’s outstanding achievements in teaching, social responsibility, interdisciplinary research, talent cultivation, and the performance of both students and alumni. However, he emphasized that as NTU, it must compare itself with leading universities in Asia and worldwide. He expressed his hope that NTU would become the best university in the Chinese-speaking world, nurturing professionals with global influence and gaining international recognition for its contributions and accomplishments.
Former NTU President Chen Wei-Chao reflected on the historical development of NTU’s various campuses, while former NTU President Yang Pan-Chyr emphasized the need for the government to allocate more resources to support higher education, allowing NTU to excel in its target fields. The three presidents also extended their Lunar New Year wishes to all attendees, wishing them happiness and success in the coming year.
