NTU has always been striving to improve student well-being. Colleagues in all units of NTU's Office of Academic Affairs are dedicated to finding better ways to take care of the physical and mental health of the students. To serve this purpose, the Student Safety Center, Center for Student Well-Being, and the Disability Support Services Office were relocated to the west side of the Administration Building at the end of July this year to provide better care for NTU students. The grand inauguration ceremony held on September 13 welcomed 48 prestigious guests to participate in the “Comfort Your Heart, Always By Your Side” event. Sipping the “boiler coffee,” nearly 100 teachers and students listened to the docent telling the story of the boiler room located in the Center for Student Well-Being (the former boiler room of the old fermentation factory) and spent a lovely afternoon at this newly-launched building for all the NTU community members.

The event invited guests from NTU and other universities to witness this historic moment. The distinguished guests present on the day included Executive Vice President Frank Yung-Hsiang Ying and Vice President for Student Affairs Mei-Chun Lin from National Taiwan Normal University, President Jia-Yush Yen and Dean of Student Affairs Huey-Jiun Wang of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, as well as NTU President Chung-Ming Kuan and other vice presidents from NTU's administrative offices. At the beginning of the event, Vice President for Student Affairs Shih-Pe Wang gave a warm opening speech, thanking all the people for their support and assistance along the way. Vice President Wang’s speech was followed by President Kuan’s remarks, a lively lion dance performance officially unveiling the plaque, and a guided tour of the boiler room at the Center for Student Well-Being.

Just as Shih-Pe Wang, Vice President for Student Affairs, stated at the opening ceremony: “The Center for Student Well-being marks an important milestone of our work on campus. Hopefully, this space can be transformed into a hub for departments and people to work together and support their peers. This place is not just a valuable historical asset but serves to warm the hearts of people and the community of NTU.”
